“Kidea Championship 2018
Day 1 Saturday 7 April 2018
This year Kidea Championship envisioned the theme “Celebration of Childhood”. Over the past 8 years, the championship has turned to a more competitive event and Kidea has feared that somehow we have forgotten the very essence of this event – THE CHILDREN. This year Kidea also wanted to instill the value of our diversity amidst the fast changing millennia.
The day started off with an invocation lead by Kidea students in 5 representative religions (Catholic, Christian, Islam, Hindu and Buddha). There were 5 venues that held different categories such as talent, academics, individual sports, group sports and arts.
Here are the highlights of the events of Kidea Championship 2018
The audiences were welcomed by Kidea HQ principal Ms. Reni Nuraisyah. It set the pace of how we will enjoy the moments of this event. It was followed by an energetic and exciting hip hop routine from lower primary students of Sekolah Harapan Prestasi Hip Hop class. The Mom & I classes did the best tandem action song performance to the tune Baby shark and one action song choice. The PGT level looked so cute wearing Indonesian traditional clothes to match their traditional dance number. The young ones were so courageous to perform on the stage that amidst the cries and anxiety they went through the performance in front of so many spectators. The K2 competed for Drama category. All participants came out with marvelous costumes and over the top props! Don’t forget how amazing they were! They memorized their lines, remembered their blocking and portrayed the story well. They day’s cherry on the cake was the twinning fashion show for all levels. Moms, dads and their kids went all out with their twinning cartoon character costumes. A lot of the duos captured the heart of the audiences when they added their signature moves on the run way.
MANGO TREE STAGE
The iconic heart thrilling English Quiz bee was held on this site. Although the mechanics haven’t changed, the committee had encountered delay that forced a category to be continued to a different venue at Kidea Town. This year the newest quiz bee category is Bahasa Indonesia Quiz Bee. The participants were impressive showcasing their understanding of our mother tongue and their spelling of Indonesian words with 2 or more syllables! Words cannot express our deepest apology for the long delay. We would like to thank all parents for their cooperation, patience, tolerance and support that despite the delay they celebrated with us the journey and victory of our children.
This year Kidea has added an individual sports category to showcase each of the children’s strengths in sports. The children gave their best to beat the time or scores in sprint, mini marathon, bowling and basketball competitions.
The categories held in this area were PS individual rhyme for Mandarin, English and Bahasa Indonesia, KI English and Mandarin rhyme, Mom & I Collage, Mom & I transferring balls and PGT Karaoke. Each of the contestants performed their best to deliver the rhymes. The use of costume and props made their interpretation come to life. The mommies of the Mom & I class were so cooperative and supportive to let their children work independently. It must be very hard to fight the itch to help them!
The PGT level competed for the coloring competition. The theme chosen on that day was “LION”. The PS children competed in groups of three for throwing balls category. The children aimed well to shoot their color/ball to the target. K2 children competed for the new category and that was painting using a model. The theme was the Picasso piece. The children’s painting pieces were outstanding. The day was ended with the POM POM dance competition by PS groups. They were so lively with their cheers and formations. Hooray!
KIDEA CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 – “Celebration of Childhood”
Day 2 Sunday 8 April 2018
The day was again started with a prayer in all religions. The higher primary students of SHP also presented an intense dance routine to showcase their learning from the hip hop extracurricular class. The competition began with K2 speech. The participants were so gallant and confident conveying the statement “I am the future of my country”. It was followed by the mesmerizing Angklung competition by K2 students. They rendered “Ibu Kita Kartini” as the compulsory piece followed by their chosen piece. The anklung performances were so touching especially that all groups have presented their selves in Batik costumes. After that came the K1 Choir competition. The children showcased different arrangements of voicing and harmony to give a song their unique interpretation and do not forget, they could follow the conductor’s beat! The final competition was the group exercise POCO POCO. This is the latest exercise from the department of education showcasing the culture. No one could underestimate this routine because it involved complex 4 turn-sequence as the signature of a poco poco dance.
MANGO TREE STAGE
Learning from the first day’s delay, the committee automatically reserved a secondary location to hold the K1K2 Mandarin Quiz Bee and PS English Quiz Bee. The event was smoother and the spectators were so proud of all participants to show their mastery of the Mandarin Language. The preschool children were also victorious to handle everything on the stage. It was surely an unforgettable experience!
Sunday’s sports events were the most anticipated because it involved team sports such as BOLA SEWARNA, BOLA KERANJANG & FUTSAL. The group of students should work as a team to garner the highest points. In Indonesia, Futsal is the most beloved sports. That’s why Kidea Futsal was the highlight of the day. Even with the bad weather and very strong wind (caused the game to stop), the spirit of the children weren’t broken at all. Once resumed the groups wore their colors with pride and their expressions of victory were priceless!
The morning felt so crafty because the competitions were for PS Metal inset designs and K1 Paper Quilling. There was a feeling of peace as the students focused on their creations. The afternoon’s mood was on the opposite spectrum-more vibrant because the kindergarten students compete for individual rhyme for English, Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia. Pantun as the newest category was the favorite. Our Indonesian culture and playful nature was portrayed well by all participants.
Two new competitions were added this year and those were group art competitions. Here the groups were tested not only on their fine motor skills but also on the collaborative effort- to communicate, delegate and work as a team. K1 competed for geometric designs “Community” and K2 competed for clay sculpture “Teddy Bear”. The day was closed by the K1 group competition for ZUMBA HIGH. Zumba is part of Kidea curriculum for gross motor development and is a vital part in our gym routine.
It was again a fun filled, happy and unforgettable event for all of us. See you next year for Kidea Championship 2019!
