KIDEA CHAMPIONSHIP 2018 – “Celebration of Childhood”
Day 2 Sunday 8 April 2018
MAIN STAGE
The day was again started with a prayer in all religions. The higher primary students of SHP also presented an intense dance routine to showcase their learning from the hip hop extracurricular class. The competition began with K2 speech. The participants were so gallant and confident conveying the statement “I am the future of my country”. It was followed by the mesmerizing Angklung competition by K2 students. They rendered “Ibu Kita Kartini” as the compulsory piece followed by their chosen piece. The anklung performances were so touching especially that all groups have presented their selves in Batik costumes. After that came the K1 Choir competition. The children showcased different arrangements of voicing and harmony to give a song their unique interpretation and do not forget, they could follow the conductor’s beat! The final competition was the group exercise POCO POCO. This is the latest exercise from the department of education showcasing the culture. No one could underestimate this routine because it involved complex 4 turn-sequence as the signature of a poco poco dance.
MANGO TREE STAGE
Learning from the first day’s delay, the committee automatically reserved a secondary location to hold the K1K2 Mandarin Quiz Bee and PS English Quiz Bee. The event was smoother and the spectators were so proud of all participants to show their mastery of the Mandarin Language. The preschool children were also victorious to handle everything on the stage. It was surely an unforgettable experience!
KIDEA HALL
Sunday’s sports events were the most anticipated because it involved team sports such as BOLA SEWARNA, BOLA KERANJANG & FUTSAL. The group of students should work as a team to garner the highest points. In Indonesia, Futsal is the most beloved sports. That’s why Kidea Futsal was the highlight of the day. Even with the bad weather and very strong wind (caused the game to stop), the spirit of the children weren’t broken at all. Once resumed the groups wore their colors with pride and their expressions of victory were priceless!
SHP CLASSROOM
The morning felt so crafty because the competitions were for PS Metal inset designs and K1 Paper Quilling. There was a feeling of peace as the students focused on their creations. The afternoon’s mood was on the opposite spectrum-more vibrant because the kindergarten students compete for individual rhyme for English, Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia. Pantun as the newest category was the favorite. Our Indonesian culture and playful nature was portrayed well by all participants.
SHP HALL
Two new competitions were added this year and those were group art competitions. Here the groups were tested not only on their fine motor skills but also on the collaborative effort- to communicate, delegate and work as a team. K1 competed for geometric designs “Community” and K2 competed for clay sculpture “Teddy Bear”. The day was closed by the K1 group competition for ZUMBA HIGH. Zumba is part of Kidea curriculum for gross motor development and is a vital part in our gym routine.
It was again a fun filled, happy and unforgettable event for all of us. See you next year for Kidea Championship 2019!
